What makes a Vedic horoscope different?

Western sun sign horoscopes are based on the tropical zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which tracks the actual position of the Sun against the constellations. Because of the precession of the equinoxes, the two systems are offset by roughly 23 days — so your Vedic sun sign is often one sign earlier than your Western one.

This means if you were born on April 5th, Western astrology calls you Aries. Vedic astrology places the Sun still in Pisces on that date. The dates listed on each sign page are the Vedic sidereal dates, not the Western tropical ones.

More importantly, Vedic horoscopes are grounded in daily planetary weather — the Moon's nakshatra, the tithi, and yogas — rather than a fixed sun sign alone. Today's prediction accounts for all of this.
